Faces and features

Apple Watch comes with a variety of watch faces, most of which you can customize. Look for software updates; the set of watch faces that follows might differ from what you see on your Apple Watch.

Astronomy

In addition to the time and date, this watch face shows you the phase of the Moon, the Earth as currently illuminated, and the positions of the planets.

The Astronomy watch face, which displays the day, date, and current time, which you can't change. You can view the Earth, Moon, or solar system on the watch face and tap the screen to see positions of the planets, phases of the moon, and more.

Chronograph

This watch face measures time in precise increments, like a classic analog stopwatch. It includes a stopwatch that can be activated right from the face.

This watch face has a digital time display and a grid layout that lets you add many features to give you a thorough view of your day.

Motion

This watch face displays a beautiful animated theme.

The Motion watch face, where you can choose the object in motion and add these features to the watch face: date, with or without day.

Photo

This watch face lets you show a photo from the Photos app on Apple Watch. For variety, add more than one Photo face, or add a Photo Album face.

The Photo watch face shows a photo from your synced photo album.

  • Customizable features: The photo

Add a Photo face. Press your current watch face, tap the New button (+), then tap Photo. Or, while browsing in the Photos app on Apple Watch, press any photo, then tap Create Watch Face.

Change the photo. Press your current Photo face, tap Customize, turn the Digital Crown to zoom out, then tap a photo.

Photo Album

This watch face displays a different photo from your synced album each time you raise your wrist.

The Photo Album watch face shows a different photo from your synced photo album each time you wake Apple Watch.

Choose the album of photos. Open the Apple Watch app on iPhone, tap My Watch, go to Photos > Synced Album, then tap the album.

See another photo now. Tap the face to see another photo from the album. Tap repeatedly to browse.

Simple

This minimalistic and elegant watch face lets you add detail to the dial and features to the corners.

The Simple watch face, where you can adjust the color of the sweep hand and adjust the numbering and detail of the dial. You can also add these features to it: moon phase, sunrise/sunset, weather, activity, alarm, timer, stopwatch, battery percentage, world clock, and date.

Solar

Based on your current location and time of day, the Solar watch face displays the Sun’s position in the sky, as well as the day, date, and current time.

The Solar watch face displays the day, date, and current time, which can't be modified. Turn the Digital Crown to move the sun in the sky to dusk, dawn, zenith, sunset, and darkness.

Timelapse

This watch face shows a timelapse video of a natural setting or cityscape of your choice.

The Timelapse watch face shows timelapse video of a scenic locale. Choose from 5 locations.

  • Customizable features: Choose video of Mack Lake, New York, Hong Kong, London, Paris, or Shanghai

Utility

This watch face is practical and functional; add up to three complications to display what you want to see at a glance.
