Hand off tasks from Apple Watch to iPhone

Handoff on Apple Watch and iPhone lets you move from device to device without losing focus on what you’re doing. For example, even though you can reply to email on Apple Watch, you might want to switch to iPhone so you can reply using the onscreen keyboard. Simply wake iPhone, and you see an icon in the lower-left corner of the Lock screen that matches the app you’re using on Apple Watch—in this example, Mail. Swipe up on the icon to open the same email on iPhone, then finish your reply.

Handoff works with Mail, Maps, Messages, Phone, Reminders, and Calendar, as well as Siri. For Handoff to work, your Apple Watch must be in close proximity to your iPhone.

When you want to read a message on iPhone, select it on Apple Watch and then swipe the mail icon up in the bottom left corner of the lock screen on iPhone.

Disable Handoff. Open the Apple Watch app on iPhone, tap My Watch, tap General, then turn off Enable Handoff.
